The Life Time Gran Fondo Cycling Series

The 2012 Life Time Gran Fondo series has some amazing new features! The four ride series, located in California, Utah, Minnesota, and Texas also has many hot new elements, never before seen in Gran Fondo events!

Stay tuned for updates set to launch February 15, 2012!

The History of Gran Fondo

Gran Fondos (or "Big Rides" in Italian) are long distance, mass-participation cycling events, not races, that have become immensely popular in Italy.

Known as "cyclosportives" in France, the tradition of Italian Gran Fondo is now alive and well in the United States, too. Participation is open to cyclists of all abilities – from recreational and competitive amateur cyclist – and tens of thousands of riders of all abilities participate throughout the cycling season.

Challenge Legs (50K and 100K only)

Life Time Gran Fondo is a challenge ride, technically not a race. It will, however, feature three unique 'Challenge Legs' at designated points.

King/Queen of the Mountain
Get ready for some rollers and a steep climb at the end of this stage. The fastest man and woman per age group to conquer this section will receive the Polka Dot Jersey!
King/Queen of the Time Trial
For those that possess speed and endurance, we have a stage that you will enjoy. In the time trial, the fastest man and woman per age group will be awarded the Purple Jersey!
King/Queen of the Sprint
The Sprint will be located near the end of the ride, so save just enough to call on for one final all-out effort. Those who are the quickest during this section will receive the coveted Green Jersey.

Each age group will crown a King and Queen. Age groups are: 18 and under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
